We are excited to start our learning on Anthony Browne’s ‘The tunnel’ followed by Jeff Brown’s ‘Flat Stanley’.
We will be working on our description skills, alongside predicting what we think our texts may be about. We will be building up to writing our own endings and, eventually, our own chapters of these books.
In Year 3, we use a reading program called Accelerated Reader which allows the children to choose a book at the correct reading level and take quizzes once the book is complete. We encourage the children to read at home at least three times a week. They are provided with 20 minutes silent reading time every day in school to promote reading further.

Can you use your senses to describe a place of your choice? You could even visit that place to see if your thoughts were correct.
