This year, Great Heath Academy invited the community to knit and crochet poppies for our Bike of Remembrance. The response has been incredible — hundreds of beautifully crafted poppies have been created and added to the bike. What a wonderful way to show our respect as we commemorate Remembrance Day over the coming week.
Our Year 6 Ambassadors have been busy selling poppies and will proudly join the Mildenhall community in their Remembrance Parade on Sunday. This annual event is one that we, as a school, feel privileged to be part of. During the parade, our Ambassadors will lay a wreath on behalf of everyone in our school community.
Next Tuesday, our Year 6 pupils will walk down to the memorial to join the two-minute silence and pay their respects. This special moment gives our pupils the opportunity to reflect on the bravery and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve our country.
This is a particularly important time for our community, living so close to Mildenhall and Lakenheath Air Bases. Together, we take time to reflect and show our gratitude to all those who serve, both past and present.
