Year 3 welcomed an archaeologist into school this week.
Children were able to handle different artefacts that have been found by archaeologists ranging from the Stone Age to the Roman era (these were not replicas). These included Stone Age tools, clay pottery, fossils & even paw-prints – you can see where a dog stood on a tile.
They then learnt how archaeologists discover artefacts, and had a go at discovering their own, using sieves, trowels and brushes.
